War is Declared!!!

I CALL OUT FOR WAR AGAINST FOX NEWS.

Now I have been calling for peace and maturity and civility on this website for quite some time. Many others have written moving, thoughtful, and hard headed diaries trying to help Democrats come together and support our nominee. I have felt that some of this has helped, and the dialogue that I have been seeing lately has started to improve. I have also noticed more diaries about issues I really care about. These are good things, even though I still see that some of us are not ready, or perhaps will never be ready to endorse our candidate.

I wanted to point this out because now I want people to dig deep in themselves and bring this hatred that they were/are feeling toward Hillary or Barack or at each other, and point with deadly accuracy that contempt at an enemy that truly deserves your utter loathing and rage. That enemy is fox news. There are at least two stories that have been posted today about this joke of a news channel, please read them now.

Why Fox News canceled my interview about Netroots & the Troops - KO-worthy

Fox Outed by The New York Times
by Timothy Gatto - July 7

Does this piss you off? Then do something for all of our sakes. This is Netroots isn't it? Please stop this infantile bickering amongst yourselves and do something really, really useful.

Feel free to come up with creative ways to destroy fox news. Thank you for listening to my rant.

Re: War is Declared!!! (1.00 / 2)

We declared war a long time ago.

Maybe it's relevant on this site as there were some members who salivated over Fox's "fairness" to Hillary.

Fox has and always will be a propaganda operation as is the Washington Times (owend by Moonie cult), Pitsburg crap paper(owned by Mellinscaffe) and the NY Post, owned by Rupert Murdoch.

Check out Bravenewfilms.org as well

Re: War is Declared!!! (none / 0)

Wow.  Two comments before it became a 'Hillary's supporters' fault.

Who knew that Faux was limping along and going under until someone could yell "It's all about Hillary!" and suddenly claim they have 'sprung' to life!

Hell's bells, even the GOP didn't have to crucify Eisenhower's record in order to make Reagan their 'saint'. We can have two great ones, you know?

Way to stretch what he said, but if you wanted to scour the diaries and act as the Hillary police go right ahead.

Re: War is Declared!!! (none / 0)

If you think that wasn't intended as a smear at Hillary supporters as somehow being on the side of Faux News, then by all means, believe it.

As far as 'acting like the Hillary police', no, just tired of the constant smearing of her supporters by those who think that they alone have a lock on what was right 'from day one'.

I support Obama now, and will vote for him, and am warming to working for him.  But we do see now the real meaning of 'will say or do anything to get elected', and now folks recognize that's a positive, not a negative, because in order to actually DO anything good for the country, we first have to GET in the White House.

Re: War is Declared!!! (2.00 / 1)

OK. Let's judge you for fair and balanced. Who was fairer in the primaries to both our candidates? CNN, MSNBC or Fox?
Yup. You got it. Fox was far more balanced. At least they trashed our two candidates equally.

Re: War is Declared!!! (none / 0)

You may be right, I know I actually declared war on fox shortly after it started, but I never officially stated it in writing. Heh, I am waiting for them to come after me now. I find I cannot watch the network, but am interested in stories that reveal them.

In regards to the comment about Hillary, I was just going to let it pass, but find I cannot. You may actually be right here as well and hope that Hillary supporters are not watching Hannity or O'Reilly with any seriousness. That being said, I hope that Obama supporters are not doing the same with MSNBC.

Re: War is Declared!!! (2.00 / 1)

Most of the people here dont work for MSNBC or CNN. The best way to defeat FOX News is by improving the ratings of their rivals.

by bsavage on Mon Jul 07, 2008 at 07:10:33 PM EST

Boycott MSM (none / 0)

Faux News, MSNBC, etc., all should be boycotted. Cable news channel have low ratings to begin with, if people boycotted, and wrote the stations, things would change.

When Internet speeds become capable of delivering quality live Webcasts, I think we'll see an explosive of net channels that cater to various political views.

Re: Boycott MSM (none / 0)

I totally agree. I think the news channels are already starting to feel the pinch and have begun to enter into the internet. Perhaps this will increase our opportunity to have greater interaction with our media, and that may impact the news. Now if people just want to know more about Britney Spears, I guess that is what we will get. However if we demand better news, with more substance and less sensationalism, perhaps we can move towards that goal. Hopefully the choice for them will be change or die.

Re: War is Declared!!! (2.00 / 1)

Another NYT piece on Fox:

At Fox News, media relations is a kind of rolling opposition research operation intended to keep reporters in line by feeding and sometimes maiming them. Shooting the occasional messenger is baked right into the process.

As crude as that sounds, it works. By blacklisting reporters it does not like, planting stories with friendlies at every turn, Fox News has been living a life beyond consequence for years. Honesty compels me to admit that I have choked a few times at the keyboard when Fox News has come up in a story and it was not absolutely critical to the matter at hand.

Re: War is Declared!!! (none / 0)

Yeah, WaPo and the NYT are still pretty animated over the Jacques Steinberg and Steven Reddicliffe story.  Personally I think Fox is overreaching themselves at an inopportune time, I look forward to a significant shift in their viewing statistics in the event of an Obama win.  We've all had a snootful of this bullsh*t, even their regular audience to a degree.

I agree totally. I think they are scrambling at this point. I don't think they want to be the de facto leader of the group in exile for the next eight years. I was just responding to a couple of posts and am heading off to check on those links.

Re: War is Declared!!! (none / 0)

IMO, MSNBC is as bad as Fox. All cable news sucks, IMO. I watch C-span.

Re: War is Declared!!! (none / 0)

I find MSNBC to be the liberal mirror image of fox. It is just as offensive as fox, but I tend to agree with them more. CNN is sort of in the middle, but is basically useless, unless a person has the ability to watch it with a very critical eye. I like C-Span, BBC, and Jim Lehrer. I like print even better, but cannot afford all of the great news magazines. I am so glad that I can get Salon, The Nation, Alternet, Politico, and mydd (and all of the links) on-line.
