Wait a sec!

Now they're saying she isn't dead?? In critical condition? CNN is confused.

Five term Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones just died. The Ohio congresswoman suffered a brain aneurysm yesterday while driving and was rushed to the hospital. Report just came in from CNN.

She was a superdelegate and one of Hillary Clinton's biggest supporters.

Updates coming shortly.

It is coming over all the other news media now, including AP, that she has died. This is so incredibly sad.

I encourage people to compare Voxpopuli's diary which never made the REC as it only had 9 comments
and now is out of sight.

This is really sad! (2.00 / 3)

I've seen far too many friends and acquaintances pass in this manner over the years...all way too early, too.

I just saw Stephanie Tubbs-Jones on CNN a couple of weeks ago...she looked great, too.

And, the thing I remember about her in her last interview was her OPTIMISM!

She was a leader in the House, and she will be greatly missed. My sincerest condolences to her, her family, and her constituents...and Democrats everywhere.

I'm not sure I know too much about her, but I grieve nonetheless, for she was taken too soon.

The best interview this primary season (2.00 / 7)

was the CNN interview with Tubbs-Jones and Eleanor Holmes.  Tubbs-Jones said hilariously "I'm proud to be BLACK and BEAUTIFUL" with a great deal of emphasis.  It was priceless.

Yes...I saw that, too...right around the DNC meeting on MI & FL. It was awesome! I agree.

Her natural state was fired up and ready to fight for what she believed - that's one of the reasons I was such a big fan.

Re: Holy crap -- Tubbs Jones died (2.00 / 2)

Wow, that is really sad.

She was a total ball of energetic optomism, I would see her on those two person CNN split screen shots with a Republic, and it was like she was on 10, and they were barely on 2.

Man, what IS with people biting the dust lately.

Not related, but Dave Matthews Horn Player passed as well.  Guy could really blow some serious sax.

A sad loss for her family, her constituents and Ohio. May she rest in peace.

Re: Holy crap -- Tubbs Jones died (2.00 / 2)

She was the best! Loud, Proud, and in charge. She spoke with power, with fire, she was a force of nature.  And lets be real, she gave me the best damn hug I have ever gotten from a member of congress.  I will miss you.

by nyarch on Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 02:33:06 PM EST

Re: Holy crap -- Tubbs Jones died (2.00 / 3)

For some background -- Tubbs Jones was the one to sponsor the objection in 2004 to certifying Ohio's electoral votes, citing irregularities...she got Barbara Boxer to join on with her in the Senate, which was no small feat.  She was a big and powerful voice.

She was a great, great lady...this is very sad news.  She will definitely be missed in the house.

CNN is now unsure whether she has passed, and the recent press conference described her condition as critical. But, either way, this is very sad news.

Re: Holy crap -- Tubbs Jones died (2.00 / 1)

She's on life support. Sadly, their is no way she recovers from this aneurysm. I expect her family members to pull the plug shortly so they (and we) can start the mourning process. A very sad day indeed.

I do believe in miracles though, so I'll be praying for her and her family.
